Still Standing Strong

The Abyssinian Baptist Church in the City of New York

Join us on Saturday, June 7, 2025, 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m., to celebrate history, resilience, and community at The Abyssinian Baptist Church in the City of New York, founded in 1808, as we honor the 60th Anniversary of the New York City Landmarks Law.

Witness the powerful stories that have shaped this iconic Harlem landmark with “Still Standing Strong”, a special presentation of readings from an original play written and directed by Hazel Rosetta Smith. This captivating performance brings to life the history of The Abyssinian Baptist Church, telling the story of its enduring legacy and meaningful contributions to Harlem, the city, and beyond.  Following the performance, attendees are invited to explore the church further with a guided tour of this historic site.
